Free qualified electronic signature: online, no token, no subscription

Yes, you can get a qualified electronic signature for free. Simplifi, a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP) on Romania's national Trusted List, issues your qualified certificate 100% online and gives you 5 qualified signatures per year, permanently, with no physical token and no subscription.

  • Qualified certificate: €0
  • 5 qualified signatures per year, permanently
  • No USB token, no subscription
  • Online video identification in minutes
  • Accepted by ANAF, ONRC, SEAP, MySMIS and across the EU

Who issues the signature

The qualified certificate is issued by Simplifi (SIMPLIWORKS SRL), a Qualified Trust Service Provider under the eIDAS Regulation (EU) 910/2014 and Romanian Law 214/2024, supervised by the Romanian Digitalisation Authority (ADR). It is not a test certificate and not a “simple” signature: it has the legal effect of a handwritten signature in every EU member state (eIDAS, Art. 25(2)).

Some websites promoting a “free qualified signature” are resellers. Whichever way you reach us, identification and the certificate always come from Simplifi.

What it costs, exactly

The free plan never expires and needs no card. When you need more signatures, the Personal plan is €1 per month on annual billing (€12 per year), i.e. €0.10 per qualified signature.

Tax returns (D112, D300, D301 etc.) signed with the free certificate. SPV authentication with the certificate, through Simplifi Sign, is available on paid plans, from €1/month.

Works where a token is required, too

Your Simplifi certificate is kept in the cloud on a qualified signature creation device. The Simplifi Sign app (Windows and macOS) exposes it to the operating system as a virtual token, so you can use it exactly like a USB token:

  • Signing in Adobe Acrobat Reader, including smart PDFs with a signature field (AFIR, PNRR), included in the free plan
  • Certificate authentication in SPV ANAF and REGES, on paid plans (from Personal, €1/month)
  • Browser signing for any PDF, with nothing to install
  • The signature shows as valid (green tick) in Adobe Reader and eIDAS validators

Frequently asked questions

Can I really get a qualified certificate for free?
Yes. Creating the account, video identification and the free plan cost nothing. You receive a qualified certificate and 5 qualified signatures per year, permanently, with no card and no trial period.
Is the free signature qualified or just “advanced”?
It is qualified: a qualified certificate issued by a QTSP on Romania's Trusted List, on a qualified device (QSCD). It has the same legal effect as a handwritten signature across the European Union under eIDAS Art. 25(2).
Do I need a USB token?
No. The certificate lives in the cloud. You sign in the browser, and for Adobe Reader or for portals that require a local certificate (SPV, REGES) you use Simplifi Sign, the virtual token for Windows and macOS. Local signing with Simplifi Sign is included in the free plan; certificate authentication in portals is available on paid plans, from €1/month.
Is it accepted by ANAF?
Yes. The Simplifi qualified signature is accepted by ANAF for tax returns and for authentication in the Virtual Private Space. Signing returns is free; SPV authentication with the certificate, through Simplifi Sign, is part of the paid plans, from €1/month.
What happens after the 5 free signatures?
Your account and certificate stay active. You can wait for the yearly renewal of the 5 signatures or move to the Personal plan: 120 qualified signatures per year for €12 per year (€1 per month on annual billing).
How long does issuance take?
Usually a few minutes: create the account, complete video identification with your ID document and receive the certificate right after validation.
Can I sign from my phone?
Yes. Browser signing works on phones, tablets and computers. Simplifi Sign (the virtual token) is for Windows and macOS.
Is the free signature different from the paid plans?
No. Same qualified certificate, same legal value, same qualified timestamps. Paid plans only add more signatures and invitations.
